Built-In Commands for the Web, Your Files, and Your History

Glaido now ships commands that search the web, read the page you are on, find a file, do the maths, and look through what you already dictated.

Glaido team,

A command used to work on the words in front of you. Rewrite this. Translate that. Answer a question. Glaido now ships built-in commands that go further: they search the web, read the page you have open, find a file from a spoken description, work out a number exactly, and look through what you already dictated.

They are on from the start. Each one has a switch if you would rather it stayed out of the way.

Reply to this saying the proposal looks good and we can start next week.

Hi Sarah, the proposal looks good to us. We are happy to move forward and can start next week. Let me know what you need from our side to kick things off.

The command window stays on top, with the answer ready to paste at your cursor.

On from the start

Built-in commands live on the Commands screen, which is in beta. Open Settings > General, turn on Enable beta features, and Commands appears in the sidebar.

Stay on the Built in tab. The commands are grouped as Web, System, and Glaido. Click a card to read what it does and see example sentences. Switch off anything you do not want Glaido reaching for.

The Built-in Commands guide lists every one. Hold your commands hotkey, say the sentence, and press Enter to paste the answer. Custom tools stay on the Custom tab if you need something Glaido does not ship.

Files, apps, and exact answers

Files and apps takes a description, not a path. "Find the contract I saved last month." "Open my Downloads folder." "Open that screenshot in Preview." Name an app if you want a particular one to open it.

Math and dates works the answer out exactly. Percentages, time zones, "what is the date 10 days from now." You get the number, not a guess.

The web, the page you are on, and a longer look

Web search finds pages and answers from what it read, rather than handing you a list of links. Ask it the way you would ask a person.

Read a page and Summarize a YouTube video both work on the page already open in your browser. Say "summarize the page I'm on." A link you have selected works too. YouTube needs the video to have captions.

Deep research is the one that does not finish while you wait. Ask the big question, keep working, and the write-up lands in your history with a link to every source it used.

Web commands need a connection. They come back on their own when you are online again.

What you already said

Search your history finds anything you have dictated. Describe what you said and roughly when. You do not need the exact words.

Search documentation answers a question about Glaido itself, so you can ask how to change a hotkey without leaving the app you are in.

Commands live in the same Activity list as your dictations. Their rows carry chips: Command on every one, a tool count when the command used tools, and Running while it is still working. Open a record to read what you asked and what came back.
