Tools beta, history search, and a cleaner app
Agent Mode can now act through Tools, a new beta that connects your voice to the services you use. Plus double tap activation, history search, a reorganized app, and Enter to stop and paste.
Your voice just learned to do things
The July update is here, and it carries Tools, our most ambitious beta yet. Agent Mode can now go beyond answering from what it knows and actually act, checking the weather, searching your notes, or talking to the services you use, all from a sentence of speech.
Alongside the beta, this update brings search to your transcript history, a cleaner app layout, and a set of quality-of-life improvements you will feel every day.
Tools for Agent Mode (beta)
Out of the box, Agent Mode writes, rewrites, and answers. With Tools, it acts.
A tool is a small program that runs on your own computer and gives the agent one specific ability. Get the weather, add a task, search your notes. You ask an AI coding agent to build one for you, import the folder it creates, and from then on that capability is one sentence of speech away. The first one takes about two minutes.

You stay in control of every tool:
- Tools that only read data run automatically, so answers stay instant.
- Anything that changes something asks first. An approval card appears, and pressing Enter allows it once.
- Any tool can be set to always ask, always allow, or never run.
Glaido also discovers a tool's capabilities and description automatically when you import it, so setup stays at two clicks.
To try Tools, turn on Enable beta features in Settings > Preferences, then follow the Tools guide.
Double tap activation
Single-key hotkeys are great until you brush the key by accident. Double tap activation fixes that with a deliberate gesture.
For hold-to-talk hotkeys, tap once, then tap and hold to start recording. For hands-free sessions, tap twice to start and twice to stop. A single press does nothing, so stray keystrokes stay stray.
You can even assign the same key to both. Hold it to dictate a quick sentence, double tap it to go hands-free for longer stretches. One key, two behaviors, zero conflicts. And when a hands-free session is running, a single tap ends it.
Search your history
Your transcripts are only as useful as your ability to find them. The Home screen now has search across your dictation history, so that phone number you dictated last Tuesday is three keystrokes away.
History entries are grouped by date, and a new privacy tooltip explains exactly how your history is stored.
A cleaner, faster app
We reorganized the app so everything sits where you expect it:
- The sidebar now groups navigation into clear sections, with dictation features in one place and agent features in another.
- Settings tabs got section labels, so long pages scan at a glance.
- Dozens of small visual fixes: consistent headers, better scrollbars, smoother animations in the agent window.
Quality of life, everywhere
- Enter to stop and paste. During any hands-free session, pressing Enter stops the recording and pastes the result in one step. It is on by default and can be turned off in Settings > Hotkeys.
- Recording limits that respect your words. Very long recordings now wind down gracefully. Glaido tells you the limit is near, finishes the transcription, and keeps everything you said.
- Sharper language handling. Language settings are stored more precisely, which makes transcription behavior more predictable if you dictate in more than one language.
- The app keeps getting more fluent too, with interface translations refreshed across all supported languages.
