“sounds good I'll send the deck before lunch”
Sounds good. I'll send the deck before lunch.
Slack's microphone records an audio clip, so your teammates get something to play, not a message they can skim. Glaido types what you say into the Slack message box as text, in the desktop app and in your browser. Pick the style that matches how your team writes, and your messages read like you typed them.
Free to start on macOS and Windows 11.
Click the microphone in Slack's message field and you record an audio clip of up to five minutes, with a transcript you can generate. That's useful, but it's a different thing from a message.
| Slack audio clip | Dictated with Glaido | |
|---|---|---|
| Your teammate | Plays it, or reads the transcript | Skims it like any message |
| Searching later | Through the transcript, if generated | Like any message |
| Editing before you send | Re-record | Fix a word and send |
| Tone | Your voice | Your team's writing style |
Voice clips win when tone matters more than speed, like a hello across time zones. For updates, answers, and anything someone needs to find again, a typed message is kinder to the person reading it.

Slack has its own register. Nobody opens with "Dear team", and a full stop after "sounds good" can read colder than you meant. Glaido has three styles. Here's the same sentence in each, so you can pick the one your team writes in.
“sounds good I'll send the deck before lunch”
Sounds good. I'll send the deck before lunch.
“sounds good I'll send the deck before lunch”
Sounds good, I'll send the deck before lunch

Illustrative examples. Review the text before you send it.
Most teams land on Casual. Add a short prompt so updates break into lines and nothing gets a greeting it didn't need.
This is a chat message to a coworker. Keep it short and keep my tone. No greeting or sign-off unless I said one. If I give an update with several points, put each point on its own line.

Add Slack under Apps and app.slack.com under Websites, so the rule follows you into the browser. If you also use Microsoft Teams or Discord, add them to the same rule. Your email keeps its own shape, because Gmail runs under Glaido's built-in Email rule.
Glaido pastes text, so saying "at Maria" gives you the words, not a mention, and nobody gets notified. Type @, pick the person from Slack's list, then hold the hotkey and talk. Add teammates' names to the Dictionary so they're spelled right when you say them.
With Enter to stop and paste turned on (Settings > Hotkeys > App), the first Enter ends a hands-free dictation and pastes, and the second sends. If you press Enter twice by habit, the message goes out before you read it.
Dictation pays off most on the messages you put off typing: the end-of-day update, the explanation of why a deploy broke, the reply to a long thread. Say it the way you'd explain it at someone's desk.
Not as typed text. Slack's microphone records an audio clip. To get typed text from your voice, use a dictation app like Glaido or your operating system's dictation.
Yes. You can generate a transcript for a clip up to five minutes long. Your teammates still receive a recording, with the transcript next to it.
Yes. Add Microsoft Teams under Apps in the same rule. Each app can belong to one rule, so remove it from any other rule first.
No. Glaido pastes the text into the message box. You press Enter when you're ready.
